Shipping & Compliance (Australia)
At 0.29g of lithium metal per cell, the CR2477 sits well within the 1g per cell / 2g per battery threshold that governs how lithium metal batteries can be sent. It’s classified UN3090, Class 9, but qualifies for the Section II exemption (SP188 for marine, PI969/970 for air) because the lithium content is under 1g per cell and the cell type has passed the required UN Manual of Tests and Criteria (Part III, sub-section 38.3).
In practice, this means the cell can be sent within Australia, but loose cells (not installed in a device) can only travel by road, not air, and need to be packaged so terminals can’t short-circuit and clearly marked accordingly.
Safety Information
- Keep away from children. Swallowing a battery can cause serious internal chemical burns within as little as two hours.
- If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention. Contact the Australian Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26.
- Do not recharge, short-circuit, disassemble, deform, or dispose of in fire. Do not heat above 100°C.
- Do not mix with other battery types, and don’t let terminals contact each other or other metal objects during storage or transport.
